Roads of Tibet 2

I can say for sure that I've never seen another highway like this one. It looks like a long ribbon of taffy lazily looped back and forth over a gigantic pan, and the edges of the hairpin turns are starting to warm up and droop. Although we have lots of roads that take you over the mountain passes, none of them uses this much terrain to get vehicles up and over the mountains. Instead, we build runaway truck ramps at the bottom of steep grades for vehicles that get away from their drivers . There's an interesting one south of us in an area called Slick Rock, where the flat truck ramp dead ends at the edge of a cliff! Actually, the downhill road that one has to navigate in order to reach this truck ramp winds back and forth so much that one would be lucky to keep their runaway truck on the road long enough to get there
